Set of 12 Antique Riley Blue Staffordshire Girl Musician Plates c 1810
A handsome set of 12 blue Staffordshire plates from John and Richard Riley (1802 - 1828) of Burslem, Staffordshire. The plates all show the same bucolic scene with girl playing a pipe. The scene is taken from a painting by Claude Lorraine titled Landscape with Shepherds. Some of the plates have a printed Riley maker's mark on the reverse. Circa 1810.
The plate is 10 inches wide. The set weighs 12 lbs (shipping weight 17 lbs).
Condition: Eight plates are in excellent condition with no damage or wear. One plate has a some small chips on the foot rim, as shown, and two plates have very small rim chips, also as shown. Very minor, shown for accuracy.
