Historical Dark Blue Staffordshire Dam and Waterworks Philadelphia Plate 1825
Rare antique dark blue Staffordshire transferware plate 10 inches wide by Henshall, Williamson and Company (1790 - 1828) of Longport, Staffordshire in the "Dam and Waterworks Philadelphia" pattern with a Fruit and Flowers border. It is one of a large series of American and English views. Henshall produced two views of this scene. Collectors call this the "Side Wheel" view. The pattern name is marked on the reverse. It was made about 1825.
Very good with no chips or cracks, but with a professionally repaired curved hairline in the verge. The hairline is faintly visible on the front, while about 1/3 of the rim is overpainted on the reverse. Almost no wear. No crazing. Please view the detail photos.
The plate weighs 1 lb (shipping weight 2 lbs).
