Antique Blue Staffordshire Transferware Wild Rose 15 Inch Platter
Offered for sale is a fine blue transfer platter in the "Wild Rose" pattern. This was a popular pattern made by several Staffordshire potters. The alternate name for this pattern is "Nuneham Courtenay," a country estate located on the river Thames about five miles south east of Oxford. This platter has a pearlware body and dates to the first half of the 19th century.
The platter is 15 1/4 inches long by 12 1/8 inches wide. It weighs 3 lbs (shipping weight 6 lbs).
Condition: Good overall. Little wear, no chips, cracks or restoration. Glaze abrasion on the rim as shown, particularly in the lower left corner as shown, and table wear on the reverse side.
