Rare Pair of 21 Inch Tall French Faience Covered Jars After Sceaux 19th Century
Offered for sale is this rare pair of large 19th century tin-glazed French Faience covered jars, made in the style of Sceaux, an 18th century factory. The vases have high quality green and brown Watteau painting of a courting couple on each side, bordered by stripes and flowers in green and pickThe covered jars are 21 inches tall by 11 inches wide. They have a Sceaux anchor mark painted on the base. The urns weigh approximately 7 lbs each (shipping weight 12 lbs each).
Condition: Excellent with no chips or cracks. Examined under blacklight; no repairs found. The interior lines are clay joins from the making, when the clay was laid into the mold; not cracks. No lines visible on the exterior.
