Rare Antique Anglo Irish Cut Crystal 3 Pc Garniture Compotes Early 19th Century
Offered for sale is a rare three piece garniture set, consisting of two open compotes and one spherical covered compote. These pieces are all cut from very heavy leaded clear crystal with the faint gray tinge of early flint glass. The compotes are of early manufacture, bowl, stem and foot blown separately and joined while hot, then deeply cut in a diamond pattern with deep triangular petals on the rim. No maker's mark, not that you would expect one on ware of this era.
The covered compote stands 15 inches tall by 9 inches wide.
The pair of open compotes stand 8 1/2 inches tall by 10 inches wide.
Condition: The two open compotes are in excellent near mint condition, save for a tiny bit of roughness on one petal, as shown in closeup. the covered compote has shallow flakes on four petals, all quite minor and not visible with the cover on.This set is HEAVY. The covered compote weighs about 11 lbs. The pair of open compotes weighs 16 lbs, or 27 lbs total (37 lbs shipping weight in two boxes). Domestic shipping is $50.
